Where fashion comes to be housed.

The elegant nature of the black and white colour palette is highlighted through careful application of zig zags, stripes and custom made black framed light boxes.  Lush materials and full height mirrors line the walls creating a sophisticated mood.

Press Factory is a brand communication and press office for fashion brands.  The 250 sq. space on Berlin’s impressive Karl Marx Allee, houses Press Factories office and showroom.   The location creates a coherent design language and accommodates multi-usage ranging from press days and brand events to celebrities fittings.

A nod to the concept of the press, the black and white palette compliment the interior’s large film-lights and loose-stands. A custom light box with logo at the entry of the factory make a strong first impression as does the strongly lit and adorned reception area.

Full-height mirrored surfaces greatly enlarge the otherwise low and dark space. The venue’s excessive decoration permits it a certain femininity, an empowering departure from the industry norm.

Zig-zag and stripe motifs pay homage to the use of patterns in fashion. Celebrity clientele are afforded comfortable intimacy with cozy fitting areas. Small meeting-rooms showcase the company’s ever-changing portfolio of work in black-frames.  Challenges such as low-ceilings, a lack of natural light, and an extensive need for storage space are all successfully overcome.

Dandy of the Grotesque is a made-to-measure men’s Atelier located in Berlin’s Mitte.  Welcoming its clientele with a drink of whiskey, the boutique invites customers to indulge in good conversation and music while having measurements taken and receiving expert style advice.

Housed in an old apartment and renovated to include a street entrance and shop-window, the space is more reminiscent of an apartment than a point of sale.   The atelier’s casual display of pieces focuses the attention on the individual within its space, harkening back to a time when Dandies were treated to similar fashion pampering in their private residences. The space is divided into an entrance room with a tufted, bar-like counter, a living room with sitting area, a changing room where clients enjoy privacy or lounge on comfortable sofas, and the actual tailoring room, where fabrics and tools are boldly displayed in both a picturesque and functional manner.

The colour scheme is dark and dramatic – a concept adapted from the fashion of the Dandy.  Materials are minimal – mainly black, and are effective through the contrast between shiny and matte surfaces.  All articles were either collected from markets or inherited through family before being transformed, repainted and fine-tuned to become part of the grotesque and inspiring interior world of the Dandy.

The Dandy inhabits an ever changing and inspiring world, made manifest in his Atelier. By offering all the exclusivity of a bespoke tailor shop, each customer is welcomed as an honoured guest.
